Curious minds come in very small bodies and Curious George is a familiar friend with answers to their questions. Curious George Discovers the Seasons is one of eight books in this narrative non-fiction series aimed at young readers, Kindergarten to Grade 2. As George experiences the seasons in the narrative, children learn important information through George’s activities, games and observations. “Did you know” fact boxes occur on most pages and are written in non-fiction text format with simple examples to explain concepts such as hemispheres, equator, weather versus climate, states of water, and precipitation. End pages include a writing and art activity, an experiment, and a recipe. Since much of the focus is on winter weather this book would serve as an introduction to the Grade 2 Science units on Liquids, Hot and Cold Temperatures, as well as to the Grade 1 Science topic – Seasonal Change.
