This informational picture book is one from the series, “Being the Best Me!”, whose focus is to develop positive character traits and attitudes in young children. In Forgive and Forget, scenarios of children’s interactions are presented using short simple text accompanied by full page, realistic illustrations. Author, Cheri Meiners presents eight situations where feelings are hurt. (e.g. a toy is broken, mean words are said, arguing over who goes first, being left out). For each scenario, there is follow-up dialogue, text, facial expressions and speech bubbles to explain and show positive ways to deal with the hurt feelings. (e.g. let it go, talk it over, apologize, talk to an adult). The end pages are directed toward teachers or parents providing discussion ideas and activities to reinforce the theme of forgiveness – the ability to let go of anger and “adopt thought and behaviours that help us recover from hurt feelings”. Useful for: Character Education; Health curriculum: Understanding and Expressing Feelings, and Interactions (K-3)
