Enter an eleven-year old orphan, Edie, and Russian princess, Anastasia, both enrolled as students in a strictly run English boarding school. Edie is having her tuition paid by Anastasia’s uncle in order to try and discover why Anastasia is being harassed and accused by the other boarders of stealing things. Add in a spunky female protagonist, the usual squabbles and jealousies among girl friends; throw in a kidnapping plot, a harrowing escape by the two girls and you have the main ingredients for the mystery-suspense novel “The Girl with the Glass Bird”, that will appeal primarily to girls age 8-12. This is a well-constructed novel with good character development and enough plot twists to engage young readers in Gr. 3-6.
Kirkus: “A fine mystery that will keep readers engaged until the final scary reveal”.
