A young boy begins a familiar refrain, “I wish..” As he wanders through his day, he wishes many things that most young children will connect with, such as wanting to fly, or to have his drawings come to life. This gentle tale, depicted in soft watercolour pastels in natural colours, ends up with the boy blowing on a dandelion as he wishes for something extraordinary to happen. In the next frame, he hears the song of birds, and soon discovers a nest of singing birds who flutter about him. And so he finds the extraordinary in the ordinary. This a soft and gentle book that reminds us that often, the extraordinary is just in how we see the world. An interesting books to take a twist on point of view, asking ourselves to change our own POV.
