Cartooning for Kids! Fairy Tale Fun

Reviewed by:

Learn to draw more than 20 cartoon princesses, fairies, and adventure characters.
“…since fairy tales are just stories, we have to use our help us follow along.”
This book does just that!  Young cartoonists can easily follow the instructions of this professional cartoonist in this drawing series of books, which includes monsters, characters and animals.  This simple drawing book invites the most artistically challenged artist to attempt drawing, moving from simple shapes to adding details. This book is not strictly about fairy tale characters.  Famous fairy tale, nursery rhyme, folktales and legend  characters  such as Mother Goose and Robin Hood, are included.  The book is divided into sections of Good Guys, Not-So-Good Guys and Magical characters.
This fun-loving, simplified approach to cartooning will attract young primary students, with its brightly colored examples. Step-by-step clear illustrations begin with simple shapes and forms and progress to added details, making them easy to copy on a white background.  Young cartoonists can either emulate or trace the cartoons, depending upon their developing skill level.  The author invites the reader to change features of each cartoon, personalizing or creating their own characters’ expressions.  These cartoon characters are face-forward, stationary figures, which show little action.
Elementary primary school children will enjoy this introductory cartooning series of books, which seem to need replacing frequently in every library, because of their popularity.
