This book turns creepy real fast and if that’s your cup of tea this is an awesome read. The back story is fantastic – a girl who saves a young boys’ life by pushing him out of the way of an oncoming car and now she can see ghosts. Great, right? Then it turns sour, as in she becomes a demon hunter with another attractive high school guy who is a demon gone good. I didn’t love it but I can see the appear for avid readers of horror, and spooky ghost stories. The characters are believable and you feel for the main character as she tries to “fit in” as she talks to her best friend Dottie a ghost that took her own life in the 1950s. I enjoyed the easy read and timeline references her best friend “Dotty” uses such as “dreamboat” and then Paige the main character will use slang of the day “dial it back, Paige”. The Darkworld where the demons, warlocks, and incubus live are all part of what Paige has access to and in order to save both her life and the life of her ghost friend she has to take this world in order to survive. She meets some friends along the way, Logan the main hulk, who both Dottie and her adore. There’s romance, drama, and teenage 1st world problems taking place in a dark underworld.
