Dividing Eden

Reviewed by:

Twins Carys and Andreus have spent their youth pursuing their own interests knowing that neither of them has a claim to their father’s throne, as their elder brother  has been meticulously groomed for that for that honour. However, when the king and heir are assassinated during their trek home from a battle in a long-fought war, everything in the twins world changes.
Carys has dedicated much of her life to protecting her brother’s secret, and has not made herself well liked by the people of the realm as a result. Andreus on the other hand is much loved by everyone as he helps the kingdom regularly by assisting the Masters of Light keep the windmills in working order.
With the king and heir dead, and no clear knowledge of who has greater claim to the throne, Carys and Andreus are forced to compete against each other in a tournament of trials until there is only one living victor left standing.
The race is on to prove who is the most worthy to lead the realm – let the trials begin!
There are some graphic scenes in this fantasy novel and Andreus is a bit of a lothario, but I would say that this novel is good for grades eight and up. This book will appeal to teens who like fantasy involving magic realms. Fans of The Hunger Games would definitely be interested!
