150+ pages of learning about Edmonton through Activities and Colouring!
This children’s activity book is all about the city of Edmonton and surrounding landmarks, in Alberta, Canada. It was specifically designed to use with the Alberta curriculum, grades K-3, while learning about history, science, social studies and language.  The introductory pages invites a child to write/draw about his/her own family, neighbourhood, and community.  Background information is provided about Indigenous Land rights and early Edmonton history, which is geared towards parents/teachers. There is also information about the city of Edmonton symbols, leaders and governance. Included is an Edmonton passport that can be used to document visits to local landmarks/attractions. The author has provided a downloadable version of the passport on his web site @ http://www.helloyeg.jasonblower.com/   The second section of book is set up as a photo album/scrapbook. Each two-page spread tells a brief history of landmarks in and around Edmonton, journaling space, a place for a photograph across from a full page sketch of the landmark, which can be coloured and/or labeled.  The final section of the book contains activity pages, all related to Edmonton attractions and lifestyle.
This book is intended to be used as an activity book by children and is not necessarily designed to be placed in a library.  It is a rich resource for those who live in Edmonton. Teachers can find an answer key to questions in the book and order photocopy rights to the book.  Teachers can also contact the author for wholesale orders and in class instruction.
A companion colouring book, Edmonton: A Colouring Book contains 25 pages of the Edmonton landmarks that can be coloured for $10.00 each. It is best suited for the grade one Alberta social studies curriculum: My World: My Home, School and Community and Moving Forward with the Past: My Family, My History & My Community
