Water! Always changing from liquid to solid to vapor, water keeps ALL LIFE alive. How?
This fifth book in “The Sunlight Series” focuses on the role of the sun in moving water, recycling itself through the water cycle, moving around the earth, changing weather patterns and changing the Earth’s landscapes together. Starting with a boy drinking a glass of water, he explores what water and our sun can do in partnership to keep living things alive and how they change non-living things. At the end of the book, a poetic promise by the sun invites readers to share and care for water. The extended notes at the end of the book add extra details about water that may be read by older students and/or supported by adults.
This vibrantly coloured book makes use of contrasting brilliant yellows and varying shades of blue, used consistently in both illustrations and text. Other titles in this series include My Light, Living Sunlight, Ocean Sunlight and Buried Sunlight, exploring renewable and nonrenewable resources, as well as the role of the sun.
This is a good fit book for Alberta’s curriculum: Grade 2 Science: Liquids and Grade 4 Social Studies: Alberta: A sense of the Land and Grade 6 Science: Sky Science.
